A Memoir to the Map and Delineation of the Strata of England and Wales, with part of Scotland by William Smith, Engineer and Mineral Surveyor

This reprint of the Memoir which accompanied William Smith’s 1815 geological map of England and Wales includes a new introduction describing Smith’s personal and financial situation during the years leading to the publication of his map. In addition to the plates originally included in the first issue of the Memoir, this reprint includes the later Table of Strata as a separate in a back pocket. It was published by the History of Geology Group of the Geological Society of London to commemorate the bicentenary of the publication of Smith’s map and memoir.
