About This Book
The title itself, “Bound by Feathers,” is an intentional paradox. It pairs the tight social restrictions at the turn of the century with the uninhibited and loose structure of feathers. The paradox here is that feathers are incapable of binding anything, but the invisible social restraints are impossible to loosen. The feathers that bind these women, in this sense, are the social norms and expectations they find difficult to escape… but harder still is not repeating them! A good read! This may very well be every woman’s story.
