1965 was the pivotal year in Vietnam. General Westmoreland brought in a full U.S. division, the newly formed 1st Cavary Division (Airmobile) to pursue offensive operations. During thier pursuit of North Vietnamese Army (NVA) forces in the Central Highlands, they clashed at Landing Zone (LZ) X-Ray and LZ Albany. These costly battles, collectively refered to as the Battle of Ia Drang, changed the course of the war and led America down the path to failure.
