About This Book
The origin of this book’s title was a chance meeting in a doorway many years previous. In close quarters I noted the eyes of a young lady. Her eyes had what I referred to as a kaliedisscope of dancing diamonds. Some forty years later I used the memory of those eyes, changed them to blue, and used the Indian characterization of her eyes for the title of this book.
Blue eyes, golden hair; with expectations and ideals formed in a privileged society of Boston, Kate is enduring the hardship of a Conestoga wagon on her way out west. At the start, trying to inject her unbending ideals into the frontier causes immediate conflict. Her future is complicated by her well-to-do traveling companions and their secret mission. Her budding love of the scout seems to grow and then be dashed when gunplay occurs. Can she adapt to the harsh reality of the frontier, or will she feel the need to go back to Boston?
