About This Book
This book OF Professor Asdrúbal Aguiar A., which I unpretentiously title Rereading Democracy, simply and as it should be, without adjectives, I edit it for its dissemination among the students of the Chair on Democracy, Rule of Law and Human Rights at the Miami Dade College that I run. It brings together my various essays and dissertations related to the democratic question, written as a preliminary exercise or to correct points of view, then inserted in various scientific journals or used for my talks. Themes that stand out are current political and democratic deconstruction, its recent classification as digital democracy, the prohibition of the exercise of power without end, the social dimension of democracy – which in itself is part of civil and citizen democracy, without that it should be split – following, in the same order, the democratic foundations of press freedom, the transparency and quality of democracy, its internal and international control, the fight against corruption and democratic governance. At the end I include a draft declaration of principles. These are papers before and after my book The Right to Democracy, published in 2008, presented by the illustrious jurists and friends Allan R. Brewer Carías and Alberto Dalla Vía.
