This book of Professor Emilio J. URBINA MENDOZA scrutinizes the details of the main new manifestations of urban law, framed within the concepts that the New Urban Agenda (NUA) 2030 brings, approved in Habitat III (Quito, 2016). The author carefully reviews the characteristic elements of the exhibitions that concurrently have the character of a new trend and not the snob or legal-cultural fashion. After the scrupulous exposition, using cliometrics, he performs the periodization of Urban Law at a global level, taking as a point of reference the reforms of the Baron de HAUSSMANN in Paris in the 19th century until concluding with the urban model of the trans-industrial society. In the third part, it deals with the main new tendencies that cover the main institutions of urban law, such as: the right to the city, the new conception of the urban norm (from monofunctionalism to multifunctionalism) and the construction by society of a good part of the regulatory network under the concept of urban ecosystem. He closes the work with an analysis of the future and plausible impact of the extension of the conventionality control mechanism in urban matters, but not without first reviewing the details of each global charter that can be applied under this heterodox procedural instrument.
