About This Book

Crazy Blue City is the first novel of Cleveland native Gair Linhart. After rock ‘n roll musician and playwright Jack Elbon is deported from the U.K., he returns to his rust belt hometown, Cleveland, Ohio. In need of employment, he resorts to driving a taxi and performing in old haunts such as the storied Euclid Tavern. Before long, old and new flames emerge and Jack must choose between real love and exotic romance. Crazy Blue City takes the reader into the real world struggles of bread and butter musicians, who will likely never be enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, persevering, instead, out of love for the music and in tenacious pursuit of their dreams. Gritty taxi cab sequences, originally published in REFLECTION literary review (with Russian translation) were described as: “Vivid and ever moving…Pulls itself out from the book pages and into the street…” by reviewer, Boris Aronstein. Although published prior to Linhart’s second novel, School, Jack Elbon and his memorable friends appear as characters who have advanced in age, in Crazy Blue City.
