About This Book
Sue Amorosi begins her story with her carefree childhood growing up in Birmingham, Michigan. She is uprooted in the late 60's when her family moves to the Chicago suburbs. She enters her turbulent teenage years during the Vietnam War period and a national youth ambivalence towards government and authority. When her much admired older brother is diagnosed with schizophrenia, her own search for independence takes a new course. Parental concerns cause Amorosi to be sent to a Maine boarding school for the last two years of high school. In Maine Amorosi find community and a life that is more satisfying than in the suburbs. Her older brother's suicide sends Amorosi on a new journey for answers. She finally finds solace while raising her three daughter.
