About This Book
This book, edited by Azdrúbal AGUIAR and Allan R. BREWER-CARÍAS, is devoted to analyze the democratic principles established in the Inter American Democratic Charter of the Organization of American States, which contributed to the conception of democracy as a collective rights of the people in the Americas, implying the rejection of the existence of any "human right" to be reelected that some Presidents have argue they have in various Latin American Countries, and that has even been declared by some Constitutional Courts. In particular the book recollects all the main documents and amicus curiae submitted before the Inter American Court of Human Rights in the procedure that lead to the issuing of its Consultative Opinon No. 28 dated June 7, 2021 related to "The figure of the indefinite presidential reelection in presidential systems in the context of the Inter American System of Human Rights." The book also refers to the Report of the Venice Commission of March 2018 which referred to the same topic. The book has the Foreword of
