About This Book
Practical music theory is a course designed to teach the novice and experienced musician important core concepts that include: major/minor scales, circle of fifths, circle of fourths, spelling of triads and their qualities (by scale degrees and tertial makeup), spelling chord extensions (7th, 9th, 13th), reading and writing common practice pop chords, transposing, the diatonic number system (Nashville system), and reading key signatures. The student will be able to apply these concepts they learn to their modern music performance at the end of the course.
