About This Book
This book, coordinated by Professor Allan R. Brewer-Carías, is dedicated to studying the scope and importance of the reform of the Organic Law on Hydrocarbons, sanctioned in Venezuela in January 29, 2026, through which the statization of the oil industry that was imposed since 2006 was put to an end. With the reform, the opening of the industry to a allow a wide possibility of private participation in the performance of primary hydrocarbon activities, has been provided, through joint ventures and contracts between state companies and private companies domiciled in Venezuela.
The book contains the text of the Hydrocarbons Organic Law of 2026, preceded by a series of studies on the meaning and importance of the reform for the Venezuelan oil sector, written by Allan R. Brewer-Carías, José Ignacio Hernández G., Caterina Balasso Tejera, Juan Carlos Balzán, Simón Guevara, Juan Cristóbal Carmona Borjas, and Rafael Badell Madrid.
