About This Book
This is a story about the life of Alec Smart who was born a congenital liar, a bad seed. The story takes place in a dystopian future when nation-states have been replaced by corporate territories. The corporations in charge of the world are trying desperately to slow down climate change in order to save planet Earth. Alec Smart is the host of a talk show called Feedback Gone Wild. Part of his charter is to encourage his listeners to comply with all the corporate directives issued to slow down climate change. Instead of doing this, he promotes the spread of rumors and lies that discredit the corporation and spark a demonstration against the Climate Change Directorate (CCD). This demonstration results in the deaths of several people and lots of property damage. Worst of all, the CCD’s reputation is ruined and the public no longer believes anything they are being told about climate change and how their behavior could help slow it down. Alec is charged with lying in the first degree and is put on trial. The corporation would like to point the finger totally at Alec, but they know the CCD also told lies because the public can’t stand to hear the truth. Who is guilty and what will be the punishment?
