About This Book
This book ccordinated by Humberto Romero-Muci and Fred Aarons P. is a joint effort of the Academy of Political and Social Sciences and the National Academy of Economic Sciences of Venezuela. It brings together 22 distinguished experts—lawyers, economists, and public accountants—to deliver a rigorous, multidisciplinary analysis of one of the most complex phenomena in Venezuela’s recent economic history: transactional dollarization. The work starts from the premise that dollarization was not the result of a deliberate policy but rather an inevitable and rational response by citizens and businesses to the collapse of the bolívar’s functions, caused by hyperinflation and the loss of confidence in monetary institutions. The book addresses the issue from multiple dimensions—economic, legal, institutional, fiscal, labor, and technological—to provide a comprehensive diagnosis.
