This book brings together two pioneering studies on the control of constitutionality (judicial review) of laws by Supreme Courts written by Professor Ruben Hernández Valle of Costa Rica, as his Doctoral Thesis in Italy in 1973; and by Allan R. Brewer-Carías of Venezuela , written in 1977. Both studies contributed, fifty years ago, to the consolidation of the legal doctrine on judicial review of statutes in Latin America.
