About This Book
This book collects the presentations of the Round Table of the Academies of Jurisprudence of Ibero-America held in New York with the eloquent title "The challenges of environmental regulation in Latin America: the protection of the Amazon" within the framework of the XXVIII World Law Congress organized by the World Jurist Association and the World Law Foundation on July 20 and 21, 2023 at the headquarters of the United Nations and at the New York Bar Association. This work brings together the contributions of prominent jurists and academics from the Amazon region (Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela), who share their knowledge and experiences in the field of environmental law. Its analyses and proposals offer a deep and multidisciplinary vision of the problem, addressing issues such as the international responsibility of States, environmental justice, the rights of indigenous peoples and the need for more effective environmental governance. This work is an invitation to reflection and action. It is a call to the international community, governments, civil society and the private sector to join forces and work together to protect this irreplaceable natural heritage. The Amazon is a treasure that we must preserve for present and future generations. The future of humanity depends on it
