About This Book
Two essays are collected in this book or pamphlet for educational purposes written by Professor Asdrúbal Aguiar A.: one, the Literary Paper article “This is how we lost the Essequibo,” published in connection with our book on The Question of the Essequibo (EJV, 2024), which is a colloquial brevis of the stormy Venezuelan 19th century, until the Paris Arbitration Award snatches the Essequibo eastern side of its territory from Venezuela. The other is a detailed exegesis on the 1966 Geneva Agreement to resolve the territorial dispute between Venezuela and British Guiana, the purpose of which is to demonstrate the false dilemma between the practical and friendly solution and the judicial solution currently presented before the International Court of Justice. Three documents related to the above are added: the text of the aforementioned dispossession award; the text of the Geneva agreement that allows us to debate whether or not it is null and void and in light of its historical circumstance; and a synthesis that we have prepared on the substance of the issue that is being developed before the Court of The Hague, taken from its summaries, edited and translated from French under our responsibility, for an easier understanding by the reader about the topic and its perspectives .
