Bluebird's Poetry

Bluebird was the pen name of Antoinette Elizabeth Matherne or Nettie. In the 1940s and until her death in 1951 she kept a scrapbook where she recorded some of her poetry together with pictures and other memories. This beautiful book is a reproduction of the poetry found in her scrapbook. And while Bluebird penned many poems, she also included in her scrapbook poetry from anonymous authors and someone under the name of Verna. This is likely Verna Thibodeaux who was a lodger in Bluebird’s home from about 1935 till her death in 1945. This beautiful book is a reproduction of the poetry found in her scrapbook. Her grandson, Justin H. Durel created legible copy of each poem so that the original copy and clear copy can be presented together either side-by-side or upper-lower. Loralei Gilliam then created the pages of the book using images and styles from the original scrapbook.
