About This Book
This new edition of the book of Professor Tomás Polanco Alcántara, on "Simón Bolívar, Ensayo de una interpretación biográfica a través de sus documentos," is one of his most important biographical works that his heirs are now presenting to the reading public with the support of the Editorial Jurídica Venezolana International.
Polanco, who died in 2002, was the author of numerous biographies of prominent figures in Venezuelan history, as well as other historical, legal and literary studies, having been a distinguish Venezuelan academic Member of the National Academy of History, the Academy of Political and Social Sciences and Venezuelan Academy of Language, corresponding to the Royal Spanish Academy).
In this book the author, continuing the line of his previous biographical work, presents the Liberator Simón Bolívar as a human being, as can be seen from his own documents and within the circumstances of time in which he lived. Polanco Alcántara wanted to exhibit Simón Bolívar to the reader, not as he would have wanted him to be, but as close as possible to what he really was, leaving aside the legends, myths and fantasies that can alter an objective vision.
