Renewing civilization, Themes for postmodernity, is a book by the Venezuelan writer and academic Asdrúbal Aguiar that brings together his analyzes and reflections on the process of cultural and political deconstruction that is advancing in the West, from the opening of the Brandenburg Gate in 1989 to the arrival of the pandemic in 2019 and the war against Ukraine. Since then, there was already talk of the end of the story, without a single drop of blood having been shed. Digital governance and the use of robotics now call into question the significance of the nation and the homeland, since this is the roots of the human in geography and not virtuality, it is the work of time and not the product of the instantaneous, it is experience of democracy within political society, whose vigor is lost in the postmodern casino of retail ideas. Thus, the author proposes, claiming the permanent integrating value of the dignity of the human person, a renewed reinterpretation, not change, of the foundations of our modernity: freedom of the press or of the press, the role of religion in relation to the State, democracy as a right, defiance of peace, ethics, bioethics, pluralism. , populism, alternation in power, nations and ideologies, among many other topics; in a context in which the value of data and people transformed into users, as in ChatGPT, form a new atheistic religion, a digital theocracy detached from the weight of human conscience.
