About This Book
John McClane was a senior in high school when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Instead of going to college after graduation as he had planned, he enlisted in the Air Force to train as a navigator. This book contains his memoirs of his training, flying 31 combat missions over occupied France and Germany, along with his non-combat flying, and post-combat pilot training. If you can imagine yourself in his shoes as a twenty and twenty-one-year-old, his story will let you know exactly what life was like for young men growing up fast and fighting in World War II.
