In this book, Dr. Arilova Randrianasolo draws on his experiences as an immigrant in the United States to discuss immigrant identity formation. Dr. Randrianasolo immigrated from Madagascar to the St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 7 and grew up straddling American and Malagasy identities. He utilizes the psychological concepts of social identity, self-verification, and intersectionality to discuss his own struggles with identity formation, and ultimately makes recommendations for immigrant parents and immigrant children who may be going through similar ordeals.
